This Article by Patricia Marx was definitely my favorite. Probably because it touch a very close in a very formal but friendly way at the same time that I never thought I would see it. So keeping up with style that definitely embodies  “The New Yorker” she manage so feature something which I would thing appeals to a more open minded audience, but made it fit perfectly and I think it works perfectly. The language it is a classic one but whi his twist and you can tell t hat the Author made such a research by living up the experiences that she is talking about that is why she is indeed pasioned about what she is writing about.

There is a bunch of quotes that are just amazing if I have to choose one that  kind of summarize the entire thing and therefore I like it would be;

When I told friends that I would be sleeping in the company of strangers, the second most frequent question they asked was “How do you know you’re not going to be bludgeoned to death in the middle of the night?

Just kidding, it is that I get asked that question a lot of times to as a very active member of the community that she is speaking about in this article, and by the way,

here is the link for you guys to enjoy too:

The article “Talking about your generation” (generation Y)  from the Editorial Play boy by Steven Chean and Illustrated by Joe Ciardiello was very fun to read. Well informed I can’t say because some the stamen made in the editorial most of them where a little bit, the kind of things that may at least slightly vary from person to person. At the same time I have to say I found it very true pretty much everything so the experience while reading this article was just like when a medium read you some cards and you know she is saying things that are just right but you’re wondering where does they got this from?’

Dialogo digital Editorial Review

This article in Dialogo Digital by Michelle Estades has a very interesting agenda in between the lines. I could tell it is pretty much a promotion of the UPR’s office for International Mobility, and I making this assumptions because reality is that even though it is a very nice article I could tell how the writer have even more accurate and helpful information than her excitement about what she writes about. Once again it is very well informed and in general it gives you a nice brief about everything that had to do with going as an exchange student from the UPR; the options, the scholarships, and interview with a participant and a few other helpful tips.

I wanted to choose for this review an article that I saw like a couple of years ago that was just so fun.

It is from El Periodico El Ñame which it is kind of a Spanish puertorican version of the onion. The article Decepcionados Tecatos Que Se Matricularon En UPR: “La Beca Esa No Da Pa’ Coca Na’” which Translates as Disappointed Junkies that enroll in the UPR: “That Pell Grand is not really enough to buy cocaine”. And obviously in a very junkie slang and with a lot of humor, between lines what it does it is to criticize the expression of a politician at the moment that said that the students of the UPR use the money  they get from federal help to study to buy drugs, in the defense of the increasing the UPR cost of enrollment. The opening line I find it quite special although the entire text it is just to die for while laughing.

“En veldá’ en veldá’, yo no sé de dónde demonios sacaron eso de que al que estudia aquí le sobra pa’ comprar coca, ‘ocio: ¡esto no da ni pa’ uelel pega!”, declaró sumamente molesto Alberto Cátala Yerba, nuevo estudiante del recinto, al salir de su reunión de orientación sobre asistencia económica… “

Which can be: “seriously, seriously, I don’t know where the hell they got from that the ones that study here have some extra cash for cocaine: ! this is not even enough for smelling glue!” declared very angry Alberto Catala Pot, new student at the campus, after he came out of his orientation about economical assistant”

Here is the article; http://elname.com/2010/06/decepcionados-tecatos-que-se.html

I hope you guys enjoy it if you haven’t read it yet!

My feelings about Disney before watching the film were the ones from most of the people, Disney it is where magic makes everyone be a kid and be happy, just as their movies.

My initial reaction staring to see the documentary wasn’t skeptics because I try not to be. But reality it is that I was shock. I was in a way with the same attitude that the people that the producer say he encounter in the radio stations, don’t get me wrong I was trying to give it a shot but at the same time I got the feeling that they were like messing up with something they shouldn’t mess with, and not because of influences or something like that but because of it being something pure and original in my childhood.

I think they do have some points in terms of the company of the mouse having a huge monopoly, I mean if you think about it they are the Facebook of the media, or the Walt Mart of the media. Which definitely have to have a consequences with politics we want it or not, we know it or not. I mean wont you get your hands in it too if you were so powerful? But other than that I think that their thesis of Disney putting a  very old vision of woman roles it is over rated in their view. It is true but so is it that our children know better at the end of the day, and if they do not as parents we need to be able to clarified that and explain how that it is fantasy and doesn’t represent real life and point out the differences and such things, because in life there is a million of references anywhere where our kids caught Ideas and things they’ll incorporate as soon as they can and want to them, but it is up to us as parents to be able to manipulate that through them,  and not by not exposing them to those experiences because if not will create a human being not able to  be self sufficient at least in the way he choose what to think and what to believe and follow from life.

Both of the lists have a very strong social contact. The biggest different that I have down in bother of them it is that most of the things in personal problems have to be with things I have been able to see are not the same in other countries and therefore  I know that that shit (or problem) doesn’t have to be that way. In the social one there is a couple of things that can be classified as personal but to be completely honest I can’t stand them, I can’t discuss them in a conversation because I wouldn’t be able to deal with the situation of how  strong my arguments would be.

A song that I really really dislike it is Moscas en La casa from Shakira’s second Album Donde estasn los ladrones? I have had always hate it and I guess it was mainly because the entire Album I love it, but it was most of it Latin Rock, and that it is kind of a ballad which it makes me feel uncomfortable between the rest of the songs. Also I have the feeling that it kind goes the other way around in reference to the message of the rest of the lyrics of the album. I want us to remember that this was the album that send Shakira to the stardom (I meted her before she was actually famous in a plain, I can talk to you guys about this later in class!)  But the thing is that this particular song have a very low key message, so it is not only about the rhythm in the song but also about the same attitude toward what it says and it doesn't say. It is like approving that  woman have to be depress doing nothing if their man goes away. It is just lame the song and wrong in some many ways. Here is the Vid:

A fantastic song that I love It is You and I from gaga. I feel it works in so many levels, the lyrics  are actually quite personal if you notice, but as a metaphor from a good movie it is so deep that you can give it your own interpretation, but of how strong is it you can imagine that this can’t be less than a very personal song, which, I can’t say No to the fact that also  the lyrics are kind of direct in a way if you take some parts of it. I love that even when I most feel in some blanks or interpretation it tells me a story that I would love to heard.   It  sounds very gaga, very powerful and in contrast with the previous song it says, you know what I’ back, and things are going to be my way. And here is the vid:

Out of stream of conciseness exercise I came out a list of words that are a good sample of the classification of the rest 800 words of the text I came out whit .

The Colum that have more words subtracted from my exercise it is the Colum of Angry, stress and Judgment, the loving one it was hard to look for them and the neutral ones there were one every now and then. I don’t know what that is but I guess I need to fix some things with myself, I’m pretty sure it also tells me a lot of how I treat myself having very hard couches true life I guess I do the same in a daily basis with my perception of life and how I auto evaluate myself and check on me. This is the first time that I do this exercises and it makes me actually feel a bit uncomfortable because of what it reveals. I start writing a beautiful fairy tale and then it became what would comment as “Just wrong!” Without joking I really learn that I need some time to talk about myself and reflect on where my life is and what I really want. Talk about the recent and past changes and if it reflect how I’m really are, and if I’m happy with what I’m doing in terms of who do I want to become if it means losing how am I now.
Here are the sample words that I took out of my test;

Carrie

The review about carried had something really nice. That is the fact that she writes a little bit about specific scenes. And I actually have very mix feelings about this. Because at first I really liked the Idea, but then at the end I felt the Author of the review was just giving me a huge spoiler of the movie, if it is a good or a bad movie I don’t necessarily want to know everything that happen before hand, in case is a good movie I want to be able to watch it myself and not say “ah you know what, I already read a review that told me everything about it”. In the other hand we can certainly give her as a pros that it is a remake movie, if you already saw the first one (that in case of carries everyone should have) you already know what is going to happen, but once again if you tell me as in the case every little difference from the original one and this one there is no point for me to watch it because I already know what’s going on. So I think this is an amazing strategy but we have to take it a little easy on it if we are using it.

12 years of Slave

In the case of this review I also felt that they were using the same technique as in the “Carrie” one, with the same exact flaw but in a very less matter. I have the feeling that they are just spoiling me most of the movie and that I’m not necessarily excited about going to see the movie. Something nice and different in the one it is the fact that  writes a bit more about specifics traits that are shown in terms of the acting skills of specifics characters and that is really nice, also the fact that they speak in general about the usage of language. And I can’t forget that the final, general wrap up it is in my perspective the best way to concluded a review.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2

Even when this one it is a bad review (which I preferred not to read, I guess because I’m positive most of the time) I really liked it. And I’m pretty sure that it is because it used the same resources that provide me the last one reviews but don’t over use it. For example after telling me the plots tell me about some problems but never mention the problems, which is a nice thing because I want to know them while I see the movie, if I ever see it, not now because the writer of the review it is too excited about it!

Would you ever think Hermaine could play any other character? I did not, until now.

This movie it is not only the scape for Emma Watson to show that she is a good actress but it is a very well rounded movie.

When I knew I had to feature a "very good movie"I though about this without even thinking about it. I actually really dislike the poster because I feel the movie it is so moving that the poster says  nothing. I actually say it the first time without any reference of it, thinking "Hmm, it should be ok" because of the poster.

What was my surprise! I remember running from the movie to buy the book on amazon and guess what? It was out of stock, and not because the movie was just release (It premiere in PR a year later than that) .

When I got the novel understood a couple of stuff about the movie and reassure how good adaptation was the script from the original novel. I think it well suit the  work of making it right for the screen without loosing  the feel that you get from reading the novel. The acting of most of the character specially the main ones is flawless. The directions goes and come but in general they are some sense where it does a very creative work.

The sound of the movie it is not less than amazing, and this is quite a challenge because the script works with a lot of musical references. It seriously deserve an standing ovation.

The movie it is about a freshman in high school that have no friends for a very hard situation that he is still dealing with. Two crazy seniors  that would be pretty much or less  the perfect description for some one who is a "wallflower" kind of adopt him friendship wise. Even though that is a good summarize of the movie, reality it is that with that simple setting the movie goes insides the character lives so deep and vulnerable that literally transport you to be in the situation with them to the point that while I was watching the film again yesterday to make this review I cry several times during the movie. On top of that without much effort it teach you so much about life in general and if all of this is not enough the movie it is the type of one that in between the serious situation have a couple of very funny scenes to balance things off and create not less than the best combination ever that had made me give this one the tittle of my favorite movie.
